A small ale producing brewery in North Yorkshire has been named the best in Britain.
The ale, Rudgate Ruby Mild is made in Tockworth near York was awarded Champion Beer of Britain 2009 at the Great British Beer Festival in London as judged by the Campaign for Real Ale .
Slightly stronger than a mild ale, it was praised by judges for it rich and nutty flavour.
The brewery situated on an old Second World War airfield in Tockworth was established in 1992 and now employs seven staff.
Craig Lee, owner of Rudgate Brewery said, "We hope our beer helps popularise the cause of real ale," and that the award was an "excellent achievement."
