The landlord of an Essex pub has arranged a beer festival where visitors will be able to try numerous varieties of locally brewed beer . Martin Park, landlord at the Station Arms in Southminster, has set up a three day beer festival commencing on Friday January 30th. The initiative is supported by the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) LocAle drive, which aims to encourage pubs to stock at least one locally produced real ale to boost the local economy as well as to clarify to drinkers where their beer is from. CAMRA named Mr Parks sub the Essex Pub of the Year last year, an award he is set to receive at the opening of the festival which ends on Sunday 1st February.
A total of 25 different Essex brewed beers will be on offer at the event. Mr Parks said, It will be locally brewed beer supporting quality local breweries such as Crouch Vale in South Woodham Ferrers, Farmers Ales of Maldon, Mighty Oak of Maldon and Wibblers brewery of Mayland. We run two beer festivals anyway and this is something we are happy to promote.
Mike Woods, the chairman of the Dengie branch of CAMRA, added, I think it is very encouraging for local business. It is a good beer festival and quite a few people travel to go to it.
