The Spring Beer Festival 2009 is set to begin tomorrow, organised by the Burton and South Derbyshire Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). The festival is to be held tomorrow and Saturday, opening its doors at noon tomorrow. Cask ales, real ciders and perries will be on offer from over 40 breweries, varying from local based brewers such as Burton Bridge and Old Cottage, as well as further afield brewers such as the infamous Orkney Breweries Skull Splitter ale .
Food and entertainment will also be on offer, with the Town Halls Mighty Wurlitzer organ set to be played by Martin Atterbury during the lunchtime sessions, whilst rock and pop cover band The Nuts set to take stage tomorrow night, followed by Murphys Marbles the following night.
This year represents a landmark 30th anniversary for the beer festival. Entry is free for CAMRA members, £2 for non-members for a lunchtime entry, and £5 for non-members for evening entry. For an extra £2, visitors may keep their beer festival glass. There remain concerns, however, that this years main festival, scheduled to be held in September, may not be able to proceed due to a lack of volunteers.
