The North Devon beer festival is being rebranded this year as the North Devon Festival of Real Ale and Food . The event will be held in Barnstaple Pannier Market on Sunday May 30th and Monday May 31st. A wide variety of beers will be on offer from a number of local brewers, including Country Life, Forge, Barum Brewery, Jollyboat, Clearwater and the Wizard Brewery.
Though no ciders, wines or spirits will be on offer, this years festival will feature 15 stalls from North Devon food producers, while local acts will provide music and entertainment. There is set to be a laid back atmosphere to the festival, with music provided by the Rural Jazz Alliance, Jenna Witts and Jim Jones.
Festival organisers Tim Webster said it was an important time to be promoting local produce in light of the economic downturn, while Mr Webster also voiced his hope that the festival would raise awareness that local beer is widely available in Devons pubs . The festival will be held in the pannier market in the centre of town, which should help to attract large numbers of visitors over the Bank Holiday weekend.
