Organisers of the Great British Beer Festival have announced that ticket sales are up by 32 per cent on last year. The festival attracted more than 64,000 visitors last year with a wide range of beers on offer at the festivals central London location in Earls Court . This years event, which runs from 3rd to 7th August, is expected to attract closer to 100,000 visitors, which would make it the most successful to date.
The organisers of the event, the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), host a number of beer festivals across the UK each year, in the hope that more pub goers will try real ale at each event. CAMRA estimates that fifty per cent of the nations regular alcohol drinkers have now tried real ale.
Every visitor to the Great British Beer Festival will receive a festival glass sponsored by Marstons, while official t-shirts are also available. The festival is offering visitors the chance to participate in tutored tastings, with beer experts on hand to guide members of the public through some of the finest beers at the festival. As the name suggests, ciders, wines and spirits wont be widely available at the festival.
