About Amstel Brewery

Amstel Brewery was founded in 1870 by two young men, Gerard Adriaan Heineken and Hendrik Gerrit van der Werff. Named after the Amstel River, Amstel Brewery was the first Dutch brewery to export its beer to other countries. Today, Amstel Brewery is part of the Heineken International Group and produces a variety of beers, including the popular Amstel Light.
